Kielder Forest

DSCN2795.JPG

The Kielder Forest is a vast area, mainly used by the Forestry for cultivating pine trees, including Christmas Trees, like the Nordman Fir.

There are Red Squirrels in the forest, however, they are quite secretive and we only saw one.  We also saw a wild dear, a couple of buzzards and a Red Kite.  Mostly we saw sheep and some Highland Cattle.

We saw Hadrians Wall at several places along its route.  I was surprised that it was not a lot taller.  The route it takes no longer signifies the Scotland/England border with Northumberland border being much higher up the map that the west side of Scotland.

We did venture in to Scotland to Hawich and a few other villages and towns.  The countryside is lovely.
