The roads in North Yorkshire are even more challenging than in the Dales, twisting and turning down lanes only wide enough for one car with very few passing points.  The scenery is dramatic with sheep cling to the slopes and drop down to the roads with no warning.

Passing Lake Ullswater and driving north towards Buttermere was a great experience as we stayed of the main roads wherever possible.
