It's a Canny Day! Wey Aye Man!
We have spent a couple of days visiting all the small villages and coves on north and south of South Shields. Some amazing sea views, lighthouses, and sand.
South Shields itself is by far our favourite place to be along this part of the coast. We can see the sea from our lounge windows and a couple of days ago a Tui Cruiser suddenly appeared quite close in the bay. (photos will be on the site soon).
Everywhere seems so clean and the roads are much smoother than in Gloucestershire and even the verges and open spaces are clean.
There are a lot of green open spaces to choose from, including Bents park and Marine Park where there is a large boating lake with Swan pedal boats and a small steam train with rides around the park. There is also a very nice cafe overlooking the lake which sells amazing ice-cream.
There are lots of places to eat out and lots of things for children to do in this area.
We will be moving on to Barnard Castle on Sunday to a totally different atmosphere on a farm with an animal rescue centre, animal petting area, cafe, restuarant, farm shop, gift shop and furniture reclamation shop. So very different once again to the other sites we have stayed at.
So the adventure so far has been good!
